Life Member loses valiant battle with cancer
Tuesday, 13 October 2009 17:03

This morning both the WA AIDS Council and the people of Western Australia lost one of the great charity workers and social writers of the past 30 years.

Holly Wood was a tireless supporter of the work of the WA AIDS Council and was a founding member 24 years ago.  Last year he was honoured with Life Membership to the organisation in recognition of his long term support.

Holly was a champion of the less fortunate in our community and never said no to supporting a worthwhile cause.  He volunteered and committed his energy to working with many organisations and charities in WA that needed a profile and he was always willing to go the extra mile to support them.

Holly was at the initial meetings that set up the WA AIDS Council 24 years ago and has always been a staunch supporter of the work of the Council and its aims and objectives.

“Holly will be greatly missed by all of us here at the AIDS Council”, Executive Director Trish Langdon said.

“Not only was Holly a vibrant, colourful member of the community, he was a very gentle and humble man.  His loss will be felt by those of us who knew and loved him.  Our deepest sympathy go to his many friends, colleagues and family.”
