Community Development

In response to our vision: “Strengthening our community’s health and quality of life”, WAAC will soon be offering a range of services and packages to assist GLBTIQ community groups to develop confidence in their own capacities through empowerment and facilitation.

Strengthening community through community development helps to galvanise social structures and reduces the development of potentially harmful behaviours. WAAC will work with established community groups and help to build new groups as the climate demands. Underpinning this is the objective of harm reduction, education and support through:

• Workshops, presentations and training
• Strategic development
• Advisory positions within and supporting the community group
• Organising, convening and moderating meetings
• Community group representation

Community groups will have the opportunity to collaborate with the WA AIDS Council to determine outcomes, objectives and the level of involvement required. For more information please contact us.
