Gay and other men who have sex with men are a primary target group of the WA AIDS Council and still the most affected by HIV/AIDS in Australia. Programs aimed at these men are delivered under a peer education model and incorporate a range of strategies as can be seen by the variety in interventions below. For more information about the Peer Education staff and programs see our dedicated website www.projectx.net.au or see our program links below.
* Please note Project X is aimed at men over 18 years due to the nature of some of the content. If you are a young same sex attracted guy under 18 please go to www.freedom.org.au

The WA AIDS Council adopts a peer education model in our health promotion, outreach and education. All our programs are run by Gay/MSM guys and one to one peer support is also available. Using a peer-based model, our officers are trained and educated in the sexual health issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, STIs, sexuality, safer sex, and drug use, and thereby become relative experts in these subjects compared to their peers.
