KISS (Keep It Safe Summer)/ School Leavers' Program
Youth is one of the key target groups for WAAC. Youth are particularly vulnerable to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV, and this risk is increased when coupled with alcohol and other drug consumption.
The K.I.S.S program has been developed by staff and volunteers from WAAC, and was piloted in 2000. K.I.S.S focuses on encouraging the integration of safer sex and drug education to assist school leavers' to make healthy behavioural choices. It aims to minimise potential harms associated with unsafe sexual behaviour and alcohol and other drug use to both Leavers and the host community during end of school year celebrations.
The project will take place in a number of key locations including Rottnest Island, Perth and Dunsborough. The K.I.S.S program is designed to provide target group with information and resources to minimise potential harm resulting from various risk taking behaviours.
